Basel, January 27th 2026 – Organised by the Propeller Club Port of Basel and the SACC – Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce, we had the privilege of experiencing an event of outstanding calibre together with the members of both organisations.

As State Secretary and Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Helene Budliger Artieda provided impressive insights into Switzerland’s international trade policy. She guided us through the landscape of global economic relations — from tariff and trade negotiations with the United States, to free trade discussions with the Mercosur countries, and onward to the dynamic markets of Southeast Asia and Europe.

With clear distinctions between economy and politics, she highlighted the challenges facing Swiss export industries while simultaneously outlining concrete opportunities for the future. Her presentation was refreshing, motivating, and a genuine wake-up call for the Swiss business community — strategic, insightful and inspiring.

The evening concluded with a well-deserved standing ovation — a powerful tribute to an exceptional leader in international economic diplomacy.
